CEAP renews campaign vs mining in Palawan

 
MANILA, Jan. 9, 2012—The string of environmental disasters happening in the country prompted the Catholic Education Association of the Philippines (CEAP) to again urge its member-schools to continue the campaign against mining in Palawan and other key biodiversity areas in the country.

“In the face of these disasters, the call for the government to take a stand for the people, to end the wanton destruction of our country’s natural resources, and to end the greediness of some that end to the suffering of many, is now more urgent and critical,” CEAP said in its website.

“If you agree and believe in this advocacy, we need you to sign again the petition against mining,” it added.

The group urged the public to access the link http://no2mininginpalawan.com/ for more information on the issue.

Recent environmental disasters include the landslide in Compostela Valley that killed small-scale miners and the typhoon ‘Sendong’ which killed thousands of people in rampaging flash floods and left hundreds missing. (Jandel Posion)

Fluvial Parade of the Child King

It has been a tradition to have the image of the Child Jesus visit His parents before His grand day. The icon will be leaving His home in the Basilica del Sto. Niño which is in the heart of Cebu City and will be paraded to His foster father in the St. Joseph Parish in Mandaue City, another city next to His domicile. A great number of dynamic and lively devotees will be following the Infant, as He make His way, once a year, to His father Joseph. The Niño stays with His father for a day and a night, while believers from nearby cities and municipalities can join with Jesus’ celebration and have a vigil in the parish. After an overnight stay with His father, He will be voyaging His way to His mother in a nearby island in Lapu-Lapu. Sister Mila Roco.. she directs me and nelvin to the right path and shes so happy to found out that we went to carmel and live there for 5days.. she gave us a lot of inspiring stories and remarkable advice... sabi nga nya "you don't have to join that search in - search in coz you now na kung saan ka pupunta if your heart choses carmel then go to carmel but i'll tell you the road goin there is not that easy, it doesnt mean that when you enter the religious life is so easy its like having a bed of roses pero hindi... ang daming pagsubok .... but have faith in our lord and always pray to him...
