Message for World Youth Day, Madrid, August 2011 Pope Benedict XVI The search for a life truly greater

This is the theme of Pope Benedict XVI's Message for the 26th World Youth Day that will be celebrated in Madrid in August 2011. In his Message, the Holy Father emphasizes the importance of our personal relationship with the living Christ. The following is the Pope's Message.

Dear Friends,

I often think back on the World Youth Day held in Sydney in 2008. There we had an experience of a great festival of faith in which the Spirit of God was actively at work, building deep communion among the participants who had come from all over the world.

Miriam Santiago’s declaration that “no constitutional violation” was committed with the disbursement of Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) funds for the purchase of the prelates’ vehicles. “The basic purpose of the grant of public funds is clearly stated on the face of the checks (issued by the PCSO) themselves: ‘purcha se of service vehicles to be used by the diocese in its various community and health programs.’ If there is any benefit to the bishop and the diocese, it is merely incidental,” Santiago said.
