Eduardo Delgado Bermudez:Cuba's Ambassador to the Holy See talks about pope's future visit

Cuba may be a small, but there's definitely big excitement over the pope's two day visit in late March. Eduardo Delgado Bermudez Cuba's Ambassador to the Holy See “The visit will obviously leave a deep footprint in Cuba, just like the visit of John Paul II did.” Back in 1998, history was made between the Catholic Church and Cuba's communist government. John Paul II visit marked the first time a pope visited the island. Now 14 years later, it's Benedict XVI who will make the visit. Just weeks after announcing his future trip, roughly 2,900 Cuban prisoners were released from prison. Eduardo Delgado Bermudez Cuba's Ambassador to the Holy See “This isn't directly connected, but obviously it was taken into consideration that this year, we celebrate the 400th anniversary of the apparition of Our Lady of Charity and also the coming visit of the Holy Father.” The pope's visit does coincide with the 400th anniversary of Our Lady of Charity, who is also the Patroness of Cuba. In fact, an 18,000 mile pilgrimage that began in August 2010, ended this last December. The ambassador says roughly 2 million people took part. Eduardo Delgado Bermudez Cuba's Ambassador to the Holy See “She was taken to places of key social interest including prisons, Cuba's national dance halls, universities as well as other centers.” Cuba does recognize religious freedom in its constitution. A traditional African religion known as “Santeria” is widely practiced, but the ambassador says the majority of its citizens are Catholics. Eduardo Delgado Bermudez Cuba's Ambassador to the Holy See “They go to Church often and priests can practice their religious ministry and go on with their everyday lives.” The pope will visit Cuba from March 26th to the 28th. The visit also marks 50 years since Fidel Castro was excommunicated. The pope is planning on meeting with president Raul Castro during his visit. Even though his official schedule doesn't include a meeting with Fidel Castro, the ambassador says the possibility can't be ignored.

Ave Maria......! Happy Birthday Mama Mary....... We love you....... Ave Maria...!

Mary is the supreme masterpiece of Almighty God and he has reserved the knowledge and possession of her for himself. She is the glorious Mother of God the Son who chose to humble and conceal her during her lifetime in order to foster her humility. He called her "Woman" as if she were a stranger, although in his heart he esteemed and loved her above all men and angels. Mary is the sealed fountain and the faithful spouse of the Holy Spirit where only he may enter. She is the sanctuary and resting-place of the Blessed Trinity where God dwells in greater and more divine splendour than anywhere else in the universe, not excluding his dwelling above the cherubim and seraphim. No creature, however pure, may enter there without being specially privileged.    I declare with the saints: Mary is the earthly paradise of Jesus Christ the new Adam, where he became man by the power of the Holy Spirit, in order to accomp...

Fluvial Parade of the Child King

It has been a tradition to have the image of the Child Jesus visit His parents before His grand day. The icon will be leaving His home in the Basilica del Sto. Niño which is in the heart of Cebu City and will be paraded to His foster father in the St. Joseph Parish in Mandaue City, another city next to His domicile. A great number of dynamic and lively devotees will be following the Infant, as He make His way, once a year, to His father Joseph. The Niño stays with His father for a day and a night, while believers from nearby cities and municipalities can join with Jesus’ celebration and have a vigil in the parish. After an overnight stay with His father, He will be voyaging His way to His mother in a nearby island in Lapu-Lapu. The ceremonies in Cebu begin with this early morning fluvial procession, reenacting the coming of the Spaniards. The Holy Child Jesus is usually kept in a glass case bedecked with blossoming flowers, which will be carried by...
