Senator urges CBCP to give reflection on impeachment trial

MANILA, Jan. 19, 2012— A senator has called on the Catholic bishops to provide the people with moral guidelines about the ongoing impeachment trial against Supreme Court Chief Justice Renato Corona.

As the moral force, Senator Gringo Honasan said it is necessary for the church to offer aids to help people reflect on the current issue from the light of the Christian faith.

“The CBCP (Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines) should get involved by giving the right perspective on the issue,” Honasan told Manila archdiocese-run Radyo Veritas Thursday.

The more than 100 members of the CBCP are set to gather for their plenary assembly in Manila on January 20-30.

“I’m praying and hoping that the bishops will discuss the issue at the right time in order to prevent a division of the country,” said Honasan.

Retired Archbishop Oscar Cruz is also hoping that the CBCP would make a move in case a constitutional crisis erupted in the ongoing impeachment trial.

According to him, the only thing that the church can do is to mediate the conflict between the Aquino administration and the Supreme Court.

“I presume the CBCP will approach both parties in order to reconcile their differences. It is not to remove the differences but to reconcile primarily in order to stop constitutional crisis,” Cruz said.
“It’s a moral obligation of the CBCP to act as mediator and reconciliator,” he said. “The CBCP is not only for a single reason… this or that. The CBCP is for all,” he said. [CBCPNews]

Blessed Sunday (My first Online Gratitude Journal Entry)

Hello, everyone! I am so excited to share with you that today, July 30, 2023, I have decided to start my online journal. This is something new for me, as I am not really used to writing and journaling, but I was inspired by the homily of reverend Monsignor Santos a while ago. He said that gratitude is the key to happiness and peace and that we should always thank God for the blessings we receive every day. So, I decided to start my online gratitude journal, where I will jot down all the things that I am grateful for these days and the days ahead. I hope that by doing this, I will be able to appreciate more the goodness of God and the beauty of life. For my first entry, I want to express my gratitude for the gift of life. I am grateful that I woke up today with a comfortable bed in an air-conditioned room. I am truly blessed knowing that I have a roof over my head and that I took a bath three times today. I am also grateful that I was able to eat the food I love. Lord, thank you for eve
